"The Year of Big Steps" - Patrick Wyss, President

If I had to summarize the 2022 business year in a single sentence, I would call it the year of big steps.

We took the first big step right at the beginning of the year with the launch of our new homepage. Our goal was to clearly distinguish TECHNOPARK® Lucerne's positioning from other technoparks. TPL should position itself as a startup ecosystem rather than just a space rental company. This succeeded excellently with the new page, both in content and graphics, giving our partners the space they deserve.

The question "Does Central Switzerland need its own Venture Club?" led to many constructive discussions in the first quarter. It took considerable courage to take the plunge and invite participants to the first VCI (Venture Club Central Switzerland) on June 8, 2022. It was all the more wonderful that the entire team's great effort was rewarded with overwhelming attendance and huge interest. We welcomed over 80 participants, and no fewer than three of the six TPL startups that presented that evening received letters of intent for investment.

Another major success was the Central Switzerland Startup Prize, which we organized in close cooperation with the Albert Koechlin Foundation (AKS) for their 25th anniversary. The event in November, with a unique startup prize of CHF 510,000 for Switzerland, can be considered a milestone for the Central Switzerland startup scene in every respect.

All these wonderful developments led us to rethink and formulate TPL's strategy for 2023-2026. We also succeeded in arranging cooperation with Drees & Sommer, the world's largest infrastructure partner and planner, for 2023.

    Managing Director's Message

    Franco Chicherio, Managing Director

The Central Switzerland startup landscape is expanding. Several new initiatives are advocating for the region's founders. TECHNOPARK® Lucerne is involved, whether as initiator of the "VCI – Venture Club Central Switzerland," as partner for the "Central Switzerland Startup Prize" of the Albert Koechlin Foundation, the "zünder" Accelerator Program, or the "Startup Week" of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences.

Together with our partners, we believe in the power of entrepreneurial thinking and action, as well as in the strength of our entrepreneurs and their teams at TECHNOPARK® Lucerne.

    Innovation Hub

The Technopark family currently includes around 35 startups, scale-ups, and young SMEs. They employ more than 120 people in total and supply customers from around the world. Thanks to state-of-the-art technologies, they create innovative solutions in Medtech, Microtech, Fintech, Greentech, and AI/IT sectors.

The majority were able to significantly improve their service offerings through winning new customers and partners, exports abroad, or successful financing rounds.
